Jillian & Thomas | July 27th, 2024
This is a wedding I have been so excited for! Jillian and Thomas’s wedding at The Park Savoy in NJ was drop-dead-GORGEOUS in every single way. From their stationery and morning details, to their super energetic reception party with so many unique touches, it all was divine! I first met the couple when their wedding planner, Christina Hope, connected us for their engagement session in Montclair, NJ. Jillian and Thomas then decided to book me for their wedding photography as well!
The Park Savoy Estate
I started off the day at The Park Savoy with Jill and her bridesmaids. Park Savoy has the most beautiful bridal suite. The staff at the venue was amazing. They were so helpful throughout the day and lovely to work alongside. When I arrived, I was welcomed with open arms and they had an entire box of details for me to photograph. It’s always so nice when everything is packed together and ready to go for photos!
Getting Ready Moments
Once Jill was done her hair and makeup, she got into her dress with the help of her mom. Jillian looked like a princess in her gown! Throughout the day, many guests also told her she looked like Barbie! So stunning. Jillian let her bridesmaids choose their own dresses. I loved how unique each of the girls looked and they went so well together. They matched the color pallete of the florals, which was spot-on. We love a mismatched bridesmaid look!
Once Jill was done getting ready, I headed over to Thomas’s groom suite to capture his getting ready moments. Thomas and his groomsmen were hanging out in the venue’s bar and we got some moody shots of them enjoying drinks and cigars.
Wedding Party Portraits
Jillian and Thomas opted not to do a first look. So before the ceremony, we took each of their individual wedding party photos and family formals. Once those photos were done, I headed into the Park Savoy’s chapel to photograph ceremony details. The space was absolutely stunning. Everything was so bright and the floral arrangements were truly incredible!
Ceremony in the Chapel
Jill and Thomas’s ceremony had lots a fun and memorable moments! To start, their dog, Wilson, a German Shepherd and Lab mix, walked down the aisle and stood alongside the groomsmen.
When Jillian started walking down the aisle, Thomas was very emotional, which was so sweet. He met her at the top of the aisle and walked her to the altar. When they read their vows to each other, all of their guests were in tears, especially Thomas’s family. He said that he wrote his vows on his phone, only 6 days after meeting Jill. He knew she was the one from the start!
At one point, the officiant made a joke after the couple’s vows that was HILARIOUS. I can’t remember his words exactly, but it was something along the lines of “Thomas was either going to marry this girl or he was a serial killer…” I have never heard so much laughter at a ceremony!
Portraits with the Bride & Groom
After the ceremony concluded, we went into bride and groom portraits! Jillian and Thomas were so excited to be married and were super sweet with each other. We took a few shots in front of the Park Savoy’s chapel. Then we walked around the property, exploring the gardens and the beautiful facades of the venue. Next we all headed into cocktail hour, which was amazing. I had to make a plate! The food was SO good.
Reception Time!
The reception was held inside the Park Savoy, in the ballroom. The decor was so stunning, with a mix of modern and elegent styles, vibrant colors and pops of gold. After the couple and their wedding party did their entrances into reception, Jill and Thomas went straight into their first dance.
During their first dance, guests were tossing dollar bills on them for good luck! This is a Greek tradition in honor of Thomas’s Greek heritage. It was so much fun! Following parent dances, they went into a Greek dancing set where guests got another chance to shower the couple in bills!
Jillian and Thomas’s reception had no many fun details, like a champagne tower pour early on. This was one of my favorite moments from their day! As the party came to a close, they put out a McDonald’s station for guests to enjoy on their way out. Jillian and Thomas even handed out burgers and fries to their guests. This was honestly the perfect way to end the evening!
