The cold winter days have already got me dreaming about springtime and the sunshine. So Melissa and Shane’s romantic farmhouse engagement session in Wantage, NJ is the perfect session to keep us excited for the impending season change. For their engagement photos, we visited their family friend’s home, which happened to be this absolutely stunning estate-like farm! Despite it actually being October during their session, the trees were still really green and gave lovely spring vibes!
The farm setting of this property was such a good fit for Melissa and Shane. Melissa is a horseback rider and Shane actually proposed to her while she was riding her horse! What a perfect moment! Their session wouldn’t have been complete without their sweet Australian Shepherd, Maple, who they brought along to join in on the photo fun. Maple had lots of energy, but she did so well and even “smiled” for the camera!
After walking around the property and taking photos in some of Melissa and Shane’s favorite spots, they snuck off for a quick outfit change. I took that time to capture some ring shots, which was so fun! Melissa and Shane’s second look was more casual and perfect for running around and trying some different prompts with them. I had them sit on a blanket and reminisce about their favorite date and memories together.
Next we headed over to the pond on the property and took some cute shots there of them slow dancing on the dock. The trees at this section of the property were luckily starting to turn orange. It felt like we captured two seasons on one session! As sunset approached, we walked over to a super dreamy cotton field. The lighting was just perfect. These are some of my favorite photos! After this session, I seriously cannot wait to photograph Melissa and Shane’s wedding at The Conservatory in Sussex, NJ this April!
