Tucked away in the quiet, wooded heart of northern New Jersey, Waywayanda Lake provided the perfect backdrop for Emily and Julian’s dreamy engagement session. With wild meadows and the lake’s still surface mirroring the sky, the whole scene felt calm, peaceful, and quietly magical. Soft golden light filtered through the trees and fields, casting a gentle, romantic glow over the day.
We began in an open meadow, where tall grasses swayed and Emily’s dress caught the light beautifully. The two of them melted into the moment—walking, laughing, and sharing playful hugs among the wildflowers.
From there, we made our way to the lake, where they kicked off their shoes and stepped hand in hand across a gentle spillway, water trickling beneath their feet. Emily and Julian are both super adventurous like my husband and I, so we hit it off right away! Then it was off into the woods—boots on, spirits high. They hiked together through sun-speckled trails and scaled mossy rocks to savor the view below. The icing on the cake though, was coming upon the best view of all, a panoramic of Waywayanda Lake.
Waywayanda offered it all: the romance of an open meadow, the serenity of the lake, and the joy of getting a little dirt on your boots. As someone who loves hiking with my husband in my free time, any chance I get to photograph a couple exploring nature together makes me so happy.
